Why Players Get Stuck
Phantom Battery is one of the most-asked-about missions in the Steam Discussions. It’s not one mechanic that trips people up — it’s that the mission stacks several constraints at once, and the gold medal makes all of them mandatory.
The Gold Medal Requirements
If you’re chasing the gold medal, these are the reported conditions (see the Gold Medal guide for the full list):
- 9+ kills
- Average accuracy ≤ 0.3
- Counter-battery score ≥ 260
- Zero recon purchases
How to Approach It
- Do the math, don’t guess. The accuracy ≤ 0.3 requirement means sloppy shots will ruin the medal. Plot every target properly (see Triangulation).
- Manage the counter-battery. The ≥ 260 counter-battery score means you must silence the enemy guns, not just survive — see Counter-Battery.
- No recon. You can’t buy extra recon, so work with the spotter reports you’re given.
- Choose shells carefully. Accuracy and kill count both matter, so pick shells that hit reliably — see the Ammo Types guide.
If You Just Want to Finish
Not chasing gold? The core loop is the same as any mission: triangulate, calculate, load the right shell with the right charges, and fire. The difficulty is the combined pressure — slow down, verify each firing solution, and don’t rush the counter-battery.
